Boost Your Productivity with Time Blocking

When we think of productivity, we also think about time management and how to best utilize our time to get the most out of each day. 


There are many tools and techniques available to suit every personal preference. One favorite here at CSE Virtuals, and one I use in my daily practice is time blocking.


Time blocking involves allocating specific blocks of time for tasks and working through that task to completion during the allotted time frame.

Tip: Work on the high-priority tasks first when your brain power is at its fullest potential.


Include time for breaks, meetings, personal appointments, and errands to get the most out of this technique and minimize the tendency to multitask or be overtaken by distractions or interruptions. 


Time blocking is useful for any life and work style, including students, and is an effective way to keep your day structured and organized to maximize your productivity potential. 


Focusing on one task at a time produces higher quality of work, increases efficiency, and eliminates decision fatigue, because you aren’t wasting time and mental energy trying to figure out what to do next.


This is life and unexpected things happen, so be open to adjusting your schedule to accommodate these occurrences as needed. 


At the end of each day, review your time blocking efforts and assess what worked well and what requires some improvement. With practice, this technique can be an invaluable addition to your productivity and efficiency box of tricks.
